The Music Ministry at Tabernacle, like many of our ministries, has been changed by the past year of COVID restrictions.  In the past we have had an active ministry of Adult Choir, Youth Worship Arts, Children’s Worship Arts, Handbell Choirs, Vocal Ensembles and a good use of soloists.  The past year has taken a toll on our singing as a group.  The congregation has had a great tradition of singing the hymns of the faith together with great enthusiasm, but now we are listening and singing in our homes.  Many of our adult singers have been faithfully recording themselves singing hymns to share in our service.  Our adults, youth and children have been participating in video sessions to produce the music that is shared each week in our worship services.  Our amazing pianist has been providing improvised “sound tracks” for all of our online offerings.  While we are longing to get back to actually singing together we have learned a lot this year about taking good care of one another and about the importance of communal music making.
We are currently using our handbells as our chief method of making music together.  If you are interested in joining a handbell group please contact and I will work to include you in a group.  We are using music for five ringers and practice socially distanced and masked in the choir loft.  If you have music you would like to share please also contact and we will include you in our video process.  If you would like to join the hymn singing each week you may contact the same email and we will be delighted to have you join us.
We are so looking forward to being able to sing together in person, but until that can happen we are improvising and continuing to use our musical talents to make worship a vibrant and meaningful experience.
