Our worship centers on Acts 19:11-41, the riot in Ephesus.

Our worship centers on Acts 15, the Jerusalem.  How does the early church respond to internal conflict? Special music is provided by Ryan Corbitt, Susan Sanford, Terry Witt, and Connelly Steward.

Dr. John Burgess leads the congregation as we focus on the conversions  of  both Cornelius and Peter.  Also, The Fellowship Choir offers a wonderful rendition of Jesus Loves Me.

Our worship centers on Acts 9:1-19, the conversion of Saul and Ananias.  The Holy Spirit brings the Gospel to light through the connection of “insiders” and “outsiders”.  Rev. Severns’ sermon highlights this surprising act by the Holy Spirit and also the lifelong process of conversion for each of Christ’s followers.  The service also features special music by the Men’s Ensemble.

Our worship centers on Acts 8:26-40, the story of Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch. The promise Jesus makes to the Disciples before his Ascension (Acts 1) comes to fruition as the Gospel reaches Samaria.  Some will suggest that Philip is watering down the Gospel in his willingness to baptize the Eunuch.  Rev. Sterling Severns’ sermon argues that the opposite is true. The Spirit pushes us beyond our comfort where we inevitably find God’s spirt moving in unexpected ways. The water we find outside of Jerusalem has been provided to bring all persons, even “Samaritans”, into the life of the Christian Community. Special music is provided by a flute trio, two of our teenagers, and a ladies ensemble. Rev. Eric Hasha leads us in communion.

The Children begin our service with a wonderful presentation on Vacation Bible School. The focal point of Rev. Sterling Severns’ sermon is Acts 7:54-59, the stoning of Stephen. Stephen’s words about idolatry have meaning to those of us in the religious majority.

Our worship centers on Acts 5:12-42. Doug, Lea, and Karen Coppage return home to lead us alongside a wonderful ladies ensemble.

Our worship centers on Acts 5:1-11. The tale of Ananias and Sapphira is one of the most challenging passages one will find in the New Testament. Who are we to clench our hands behind our backs in hopes of hiding something from God?

Our worship centers on Acts 4:5-12, Peter and John’s encounter with 70+ religious authority figures.  Why is we are so reluctant to invoke the name of Jesus in private conversation or in public discourse? Are we reacting to the extremes  or fearful of stepping on toes? The third sermon in our summer series looks at the example of these two apostles and urges us to use words when necessary. Music is provided by Ryan Corbitt, Judy Fiske, and Jerry Jones.

Our worship centers on Acts 2:42-47, .  The third sermon in our summer series, entitled Life of the Uncommon Community, focuses upon the church at her best.  What were the first actions taken after the birth of the church? Where did our early forbearers focus their energy when they began to organize themselves? Special music in the service is provided by Ron Simmons and Terry Witt.  Dr. John Burgess leads communion and Rev. Eric Hasha also prays for our 2010 graduates.
