The Pastoral Staff spent some time together last month to help cast a vision for the summer of 2011.  Many of our Sunday School Teachers take a well deserved hiatus during a portion of the summer. The idea for an Intergenerational Choir surfaced as we explored creative options for the 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. hour.

Basically, we would like to invite all children (kindergarten and above) and adults to come together weekly (9:45 – 10:45 a.m.)  from July 3 – August 14 in the Choir Room. We will learn three songs in Karen, Chin, and English: Solid Rock (chorus only), To God be the Glory (chorus only), and the Doxology. We will mentor one another in our native languages.  We will also learn a couple of songs in latin. The last fifteen minutes of each rehearsal will be dedicated to learning various phrases in Karen, Chin, Lasu, and Burmese, study the uniqueness of each culture, etc.

The Choir will sing during worship on July 24 and August 14th. It is only realistic to expect choir members to miss a rehearsal or two as many of us travel in the summertime. A CD of the songs will be mass produced to help everyone practice while you’re away. Please consider this genuine invitation and make plans to join us on Sunday! E-mail or if you’ve got any specific questions.
