Serve as a Sunday Morning Greeter (15 minute commitment)

Greeting visitors may seem like a small thing, but it makes a huge difference in the first impression we leave on our guests. Greeting at Tabernacle is incredibly easy; you just come to your designated location (inside the Sanctuary or outside on the sidewalk) about 15 minutes before worship and then act like your normal sunny selves!

Ideally, we’d like to have about 20 greeters (or couples who greeted together) in 2012.

Everyone would be on the list about five times during the year. Families, including children, are invited and encouraged to participate! All you need to do in order to participate is sign up (click here for link)  (You can, of course, trade if you have a conflict).

Thank you for your support of Tabernacle Baptist Church

Epiphany Sunday, 1.6.13

At Tabernacle we follow the Christian year in our cycles of worship. Each season of the year reminds us of certain truths contained in scripture and helps us focus on what is most important about following God. The lectonary is divided into three different years with each of the synoptic Gospels taking the center stage. The Gospel of John is divided and used during special seasons during all three years. We are currently in the third year; year C which follows the Gospel of Luke.

Today, marks the beginning of the Epiphany Season (January 6 – February 10, 2013). The Biblical basis for Epiphany is in the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 2, verses 1-11. It is the story of the visit of scholars from a distant land to honor a new born child who would be important to the whole human race. Epiphany is a time for expanding the vision of Christian people. Stories of Jesus in the Gospels are emphasized during this season as we grow to see Jesus more clearly, it is like a light growing ever brighter.  The colors used are white, gold and green.

Worship Leaders: Dick Denzler, Samuel UC Lian, Molly Huffstetler, Kathy McGraw, and the Church Staff.

Worship: Advent 4c, 12.23.12

We focus on Peace during the last Sunday of the Advent Season. Peace isn’t the absence of conflict but rather the presence of love! Worship leaders include the Ladies Ensemble, Jessica Corbitt, John Burgess, Chin Choir, Jolin Chaing, Linda Southworth and the Pastoral Staff.

Note: There are a couple of silent gaps in this week’s recording.

Recommend Deacon Candidates

The nominating committee is requesting your help!  We are looking for your recommendations of those who should be asked to serve as Tabernacle Baptist Church deacons for a 3-year term, beginning January, 2013.  Please share with the committee those persons you recommend that are already ordained, but not currently serving, and those you wish to recommend as a good person to be considered for ordination as a new deacon.

You might use the profile below as a guide to identify those members of our church who you feel should be nominated.   You do not need to ask the members you would like to nominate about their availability to serve.  The committee will use the information for each nominee you provide and be guided by the working of the Holy Spirit in following up with nominees and in making a final recommendation to the church.
