Friends,

I am excited to let you know that planning for our trip to work with Doug and Lea Coppage in Hungary is well underway. Our full team includes Cole Severns, David McGraw, Mariah McGraw, Kathy McGraw, Ben Peery, and myself. We are having conversations about what it means to go on mission and what attitudes and assumptions we are carrying with us as we go.

We are beginning to retell Doug and Lea’s story. The first step in learning about Doug and Lea is to read the framed poster next to the women’s restroom on the main floor of the church. We are not the first group from Tabernacle to visit Hungary! Many of you have stories about Doug and Lea, their journey, and their roots as part of the Tabernacle family. If you have a story, please reach out to me (brock@tbcrichmond.org) so that we can retell that story to those of us who do not know Doug and Lea.

Each team member has begun work on a bible story that we will teach. Each lesson is connected to a basic part of the English language (numbers, names of animals, etc.). After helping facilitate a baseball camp each day, we will be working with the youth and kids that attend, teaching these bible lessons in creative ways that also introduce them to English.

Thank for your generosity and support! To date, you have given over $2000 to support this trip. Your donations and prayers are part of what integrates you into this trip. Please continue to give generously over the upcoming weeks to lessen the financial burden of those who are traveling. You can give after worship in the Welcome Center or during Wednesday night supper.

Continue to pray for the team as prepare. We are all excited, but we all have some nervousness as well. Pray for Doug and Lea as they continue to prepare for us, and Doug specifically as he works with the city council to extend the use permit for the baseball field.

I am so grateful for your support, and look forward to sharing this trip with you each step of the way.

Grace and Peace,

Hogan
